My third stop during San Francisco Design Week was a small studio in San Francisco’s Mission District who go by the name Pact Studio.

Pact is a Mission-based studio that develop distinct and strategic brand identities with a down-to-earth mindset. The core team is small, just four people but they partner with other talented creatives who join on a project-by-project basis.

The studio is located on the second floor of a modest corner building at 1300 South Van Ness Avenue in the Mission District, one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Francisco, dating back to 1776. It’s a fitting setting for a small design practice.

Inside the studio, the space was a little crowded, but that made it easy to connect with others and get a feel for the studio. People gathered around desks and monitors, talking and looking over the work on display.

I had the chance to meet some great designers, including Tony Mingo, one of the partners at Pact. It was great talking with him and learning more about the studio’s process for developing identity work.

Of course I had to check out their book collection.

I always enjoy browsing other design libraries. They show the inspirations behind a studio’s work and because they give me ideas for books to add to my collection.

This Studio Crawl was a great way to close out San Francisco Design Week 2024 and I’m already looking forward to attending again next year.
